from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

teensmag is a Christian youth magazine that appears under the motto "Trends, Faith, Action, Depth" in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. teensmag is published by SCM Bundes-Verlag and is available by subscription or at the kiosk every two months.

history

Daniel Kohli, responsible for the Protestant magazine “Deine Jugend” and high school teacher in Zurich, decided in 1983 to design a new Christian magazine for young people. In 1985, in cooperation with the Bund Evangelischer Schweizer Jungscharen (BESJ), the youth magazine TEENS was published in Switzerland , initially in A5 format. With the 9/1994 issue, production inevitably stopped due to financing problems. In the spring of 1995, however, the project was restarted in cooperation with the Bundes-Verlag in Witten . The first teensmag appeared in Switzerland and Germany. It comprised (like today) 68 pages and the first edition appeared free of charge with 100,000 copies.

Today teensmag is common in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. From 36,000 to 55,000 copies per print run, over 18,000 go to subscribers. For advertising purposes, an overprint of 60,000 printed copies is published once a year, which is distributed free of charge at concerts, festivals and various major events in order to make teensmag known.

In 2005 teensmag celebrated its 20th anniversary in Switzerland and its 10th anniversary in Germany, among other things with an extra birthday camp.

Background and content

teensmag is mainly realized through the work of freelance authors and volunteer contributors to youth work. Here focuses teensmag not only to new trends in youth culture, but also has to take the claim seriously and young people to make them strong in the sense of Christian values. The magazine endeavors to inspire young people to live with the Christian religion and to work on various life questions as deeply as possible using biblical texts. The contributions follow a conservative Christian line. For example, premarital sex is rejected.

In addition to hands-on activities, such as B. "2 or 3" (teams meet to pray, read the Bible and carry out missionary-social activities) or "This is my church" (the target group is encouraged to take an active part in church work), a “teensmag bible” was also published, the books “When Teens Pray, God Does Miracles” (in collaboration with R. Brockhaus Verlag ) and a “Poetry Calendar”.
