Carmarthen and Cardigan Railway

The Teifi Valley Railway (Welsh: Rheilffordd Dyffryn Teifi ) is a 610 millimeter (2 foot) gauge narrow-gauge railway that runs along the Teifi between Llandysul and Castell Newydd Emlyn in the southern Welsh county of Ceredigion . It is a tourist narrow gauge railway on part of the Carmarthen and Cardigan Railway , later part of the Great Western Railway . After the standard-gauge line had been shut down and dismantled, railway enthusiasts built the narrow-gauge railway on the old route. It currently runs between the hamlet of Henllan and Llandyfriog . An extension to Castell Newydd Emlyn (Newcastle Emlyn) and finally Pentrecwrt are being considered.

business

The museum railway was built by an association. The infrastructure and rolling stock have been transferred to a not-for-profit public company under UK law:

  • Infrastructure company: Rheilffordd Dyffryn Teifi PLC ( Teifi-Tal-Bahn AG )
  • Operator: Rheilffordd Dyffryn Teifi Cymdeithas ( Teifi Valley Railway Association )
