The law for the promotion of social participation and integration in North Rhine-Westphalia of February 14, 2012 forms the basis of the integration policy in North Rhine-Westphalia . It was passed on February 8, 2012 in the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament with the votes of the parliamentary groups of CDU, SPD, Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and FDP with the abstention of the parliamentary group Die Linke.

The law represents a binding basis for promoting participation and integration . The law secures the integration-political infrastructure in North Rhine-Westphalia. This infrastructure includes the regional offices for the promotion of children and young people from immigrant families (RAA) in municipal sponsorship, the integration agencies and intercultural centers sponsored by the umbrella organizations of independent welfare, the migrant self-organizations and the networks developed in cities and rural districts. These structures are advised, accompanied and promoted at the state level by the state-wide competence center for integration in the Arnsberg district government, the state integration council of North Rhine-Westphalia and the main RAA office in Essen.
