Under Tele Pharmacy refers to the advice to patients and customers through data-secure video connection from the public pharmacy . Here, pharmaceutical staff provide advice on prescription drugs, OTC drugs , aids , cosmetics and other common pharmacy goods in compliance with all legal requirements. This consultation is chargeable and is a standard pharmacy service. In times of the COVID-19 pandemic ("Corona"), telepharmacy enables people without direct contact to be advised personally and empathically. This is particularly advantageous when advising the elderly, high-risk patients, parents with small children or people with physical limitations.

In Germany, the first German pharmacies started offering pharmaceutical advice in 2020. Various providers have developed applications (apps) for this purpose, including the pharmacy-owned company Apomondo GmbH. In particular, the blurring of the separation of doctor and pharmacy through the acquisition of the provider Teleclinic ( video consultation hours for doctors) by the DocMorris parent company Zur Rose caused critical voices in Germany in July 2020.

In France, in September 2019, two French pharmacists' associations (Fédération des syndicats pharmaceutiques de France (FSPF) and Union des Syndicats de Pharmaciens d'Officine (USPO)) signed a framework agreement with the national union of health insurers (Uncam) on the introduction of teleconsultations in pharmacies details of the technical implementation have been added. According to the results of surveys by “Direct Medica” and “Les Échos Études”, around a quarter of French pharmacies stated that they would soon start teleconsulting.
