The BOS handheld radio Teleport VI , developed and distributed by Telefunken Gesellschaft für wireless Telegraphie mbH , is a fully transistorized , portable radio .

introduction

The Teleport VI was introduced in 1963 in the German BOS radio . The BOS radio is a non-public, mobile VHF land radio service used by authorities and organizations with security tasks (BOS). The user groups of Teleport VI included the police, customs, armed forces, emergency services and the German Federal Railroad .

construction

The Teleport VI essentially consists of a basic housing and a clip-on microphone speaker. On the top of the housing, next to the microphone speaker, there is a pointer instrument to display the charge status of the battery, the on / off switch (with the positions "off" - "on / squelch active" - "on / squelch open") and a TNC antenna connector . The channel selection switch for a maximum of four frequencies or channels is located on the side of the housing. The battery compartment is located in the bottom of the device behind a lockable flap. A label stating the type designation and the available frequencies can be placed in a holder on the bottom of the device, directly next to the battery compartment. The fastening eyes attached to the two narrow sides of the housing are used to hold a carrying strap or to fasten it in a carrying case.

The microphone speaker shown in the picture above combines speaker and microphone in one capsule. It has a PTT button , a control for adjusting the volume and two buttons for ringing tones, whereby the ringing tone generator is housed in the microphone and not in the basic device. The microphone speaker is equipped with a plug connection ( Tuchel plug ) and is attached to the device housing by means of a bayonet lock ( i.e. without using the screw connection of the Tuchel plug ). The shaft of the microphone loudspeaker also serves as a handle. There was also a simplified version of this microphone without a volume control, stick and handheld microphones, and clip-on and buttonhole microphones for covert use. The microphone loudspeaker shown could also be operated remotely using a connection cable (a Tuchel plug with screw connection on the microphone side, a Tuchel plug that can be screwed on the device or a bayonet connection).

Sending and receiving branches were individually convenient in each of the switchable channels (so the device could be comfortably doctored on each individual channel for alternating as well as conditional two-way communication) and set up independently of one another, so pure receiving or transmitting devices ("solo transmitters "And" Solo receiver "by leaving out the unnecessary branch).
