A telescopic rail guide (short: telescopic rail ) is a rail guide that is used to reduce friction for pull-outs (such as drawers ) on furniture , kitchens , ovens , fire engines , etc. Synonymous terms are telescopic extension and telescopic extension support.

Depending on the extension option, a distinction is made between telescopic slides with partial, full and over-extension. Depending on the type of rail, telescopic rails can be equipped with a so-called quick release, which enables two telescopic rail parts to be separated quickly (e.g. for removal from the oven or the fire engine).

Telescopic rails consist of at least two guide rails, the profiles of which run into one another. Telescopic rails can still be designed as roller or sliding guides .

The classic telescopic slide known from drawers is available in hardware stores. The telescopic rail, which is required for industry and can carry heavy loads of up to 2,000 kg, is available from specialist retailers or from the respective manufacturer.
