TVes ( Televisora Venezolana Social , German: social Venezuelan television , also abbreviated Teves ) is a public television broadcaster in Venezuela . TVes has been on the air since May 28, 2007 when it took over the broadcasting channels of the private television broadcaster RCTV in the terrestrial VHF band as well as its satellite channel 104 on DirecTV . RCTV's terrestrial broadcast license had expired the day before.

The name TVes is a play on words: "Te ves" means in German "You see yourself". The slogan of the station is: “ Te ves como eres de verdad ” (German: “You see yourself as you really are”).

The television station is operated by the Venezuelan Social Television Foundation, which is connected to the Ministry of Information (MinCI), but is autonomous in its operation. TVes does not develop any programs itself, but only transmits independently produced programs. The start-up funding for the television station comes from the Venezuelan state. The aim is for the broadcaster to be able to support itself financially after a transition period through television spots from private and public sponsors.

President of the television station, the journalist Lil Rodríguez , the date the shipment Sones y Pasiones of Telesur had passed.

In the management of the Venezuelan state TV broadcaster, Social Venezuelan Television (TVES), there are also two audience representatives and two representatives from independent media producers.

The station wants to strengthen independent Venezuelan production companies in order to adequately reflect the cultural diversity of the country and to avoid broadcast content from being purchased exclusively on the international market, especially the US market.

The audience for the new channel is very low. While the station was still able to benefit from the Copa América football broadcast in June and July 2007 and achieved ratings of 8.9% and 8.3%, these fell to 4.6% by September 2007. RCTV reached around 30% of the Venezuelan audience via the same distribution channels.
