history

In the early stages of the planned Circle Line, the Circle Line Extension should end in Chinatown. On January 12, 2010, Cross Street Station was later renamed Telok Ayer to honor the rich heritage. Cross Street was also among the top proposals for Telok Ayer.

Works of art

The station has artwork on the walls, floors and pillars of the station created by Lim Shing Ee titled "Bulbous Abode". The work of art shows a bizarre dream landscape made of large rocks, representing ancient monuments and reminiscent of the background of the Chinese immigrants. The artwork is etched onto CeramicSteel architectural panels from PolyVision. Kazunori Takeishi was Lim Shing Ee's partner in this project.
