The Temirbank ( Kazakh Темірбанк ; Russian Темирбанк ) was a Kazakh credit institution based in Almaty and was one of the largest banks in Kazakhstan. It had around 1,400 employees and more than 100 branches. In 2015 the bank merged with Alliance Bank; the newly created bank has since acted as Forte Bank .

Corporate activities

Temirbank was involved in several Kazakh financial service providers. It held 18.9 percent in the leasing service provider Temirleasing, 100 percent in First Broker House and also shares in the Kunayev Open Accumulative Pension Fund.

history

Temirbank was established on March 26, 1992. At the beginning of 1995 the Kazakh government still held 18 percent of the bank's shares, but in March of the same year it decided to sell all of the shares and thus privatize the institute . In 1998 the company was officially listed on the Kazakh Stock Exchange .

In June 2000 Temirbank entered into a loan agreement for a total of EUR 3.6 million with the Belgian KBC Group . The aim of the project was to finance projects in the economic sector.

In September 2004 cooperations were entered into with various foreign banks, including the Russian "Dialog-Optim" bank, the Kyrgyz Ineximbank and the Latvian Trasta Comerc banka.

Due to the global financial crisis , Temirbank also ran into financial difficulties and eventually had to undergo restructuring to reduce debt. As a result, the Kazakh state increased its stake in the company to almost 80 percent.

share

The Temirbank share was listed on the Kazakh Stock Exchange in Almaty and on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The main shareholder on the Kazakh Stock Exchange was the Kazakh state fund Samruk-Kazyna. He held 79.9 percent of all shares.
