The Temple of Atum or House of Atum ( ancient Egyptian Per Tem ) belonged to the complex of the Re-Harachte Temple in Heliopolis .
The double temple of the Re-Harachte and the Atum was surrounded by a wall with a diameter of 30 m and an area of 1,000 m × 900 m (0.9 km² ). From the western gate of the southern half an approximately 500 m long avenue of sphinxes led to the western temple complex of Atum.
Each sphinx was made of limestone and was 7 meters long. The exact location of the Atum temple has not yet been determined. It also remains unclear whether the Atum temple, like that of Re-Harachte, was built on an artificial hill ( high sand ).
