High sand
A high sand is an ancient Egyptian cult building. It consists of a square pile of sand, which is enclosed by dam-like stone or brick walls with rounded corners. On this is the actual sanctuary . The high sand symbolizes an island emerging from the primordial ocean . The name goes back to Herbert Ricke .
