The Temple Protestant du Foyer de l'Âme is a church in the Rue du Pasteur-Wagner in the 11th arrondissement of Paris , with a liberal-Protestant orientation. It belongs to the United Protestant Church of France .

history

The church was founded in 1885 by Pastor Charles Wagner in the Rue des Arquebusiers opposite the Place de la Bastille . In 1892 she moved to  92 Boulevard Beaumarchais to a room that could hold 300 people.

On March 17, 1907, the Temple du Foyer de l'Âme was inaugurated in part of Rue Daval, which was renamed Rue du Pasteur-Wagner in 1925. On the different floors there was an infirmary, a clothing store and various offers that show the spirit of social solidarity from which the founder was guided. The clinic no longer exists today, but proves the diverse social commitment of the community.

description

The sober facade of the church contrasts with the spirit of Art Nouveau in the church hall. A large glass ceiling illuminates the place. In the entrance axis there is an old Bible on the sacrament table, the pulpit and above it the organ. The organ was built at the same time as the church in 1907. It was replaced in 2009 by a new one, which was inserted into the original case from the Blumenroeder manufactory in Haguenau .
