Temporary Like Achilles is a blues song by Bob Dylan that was released on his 1966 album Blonde on Blonde . The recording was produced by Bob Johnston for Columbia Records .
On the first recording, the electrically played blues is dominated by Hargus “Pig” Ribbons' piano playing and Dylan's harmonica solo in the middle of the song. The piano-stressed piece is very different from the rest of the album, on which there are more blues pieces, but mixed with rock music.
Lyrically, the text is about a man whose lover has left him to meet her former lover. The lyrical I would like to enter her world, but she remains tough and pretends not to heed it. Within the stanzas there are some surrealist metaphors, the interpretation of which is open. By and large, Dylan portrays the image of a rejected lover.
