The Tenaya Lake is a lake in Yosemite National Park in the US state of California . It lies between the Yosemite Valley and the Tuolumne Meadow. The lake was formed by the Tuolumne glacier. The outflow of the lake is Tenaya Creek , which flows through Tenaya Canyon in Yosemite Valley. The lake is at an altitude of 2484 m above sea level . The lake was named after Tenaya , the chief of the Ahwahnee ( Ahwahneechee ) known to neighboring tribes as the Yosemite .
