Tengis Sulakwelidze ( Georgian თენგიზ სულაქველიძე ; Russian Тенгиз Григорьевич Сулаквелидзе ; born July 23, 1956 in Kutaisi , Georgian SSR ) is a former Georgian-Soviet football player.

Sulakwelidze began his career as a footballer in 1974 with Torpedo Kutaisi , the club in his hometown. In 1978 he moved to Dinamo Tiflis and stayed with this club until 1988. With Tbilisi he was Soviet champion in 1978 and Soviet cup winner in 1979 . In the 1980/1981 season, he and his team also won the European Cup Winners' Cup .

For the Soviet national team Sulakwelidze completed 49 international matches from 1980 to 1988 and scored two goals. At the 1980 Olympics , he won the bronze medal with the Soviet team. He took part in the World Cup in Spain in 1982 and in the European Championship in 1988 .

Sulakwelidse ended his active career in 1989 in Sweden with IFK Holmsund .
