The acting CEOs of the Tentamus Group are Jochen Zoller and Abgar Barseyten, who was mentioned by Forbes in 2017 as an innovative founder who you can watch and learn from.
In 2019, Tentamus has 2,500 full-time employees worldwide who test 1,500,000 samples per year in 65 laboratories worldwide. In addition, 15,000 on-site inspections are carried out annually.
The Tentamus Group also offers the following services:
Tentamus Center for Food Fraud (TCF²)
The Tentamus Center for Food Fraud was opened in Bremen in 2017. The aim is to uncover adulterations in food. Counterfeiters can produce food cheaper. These analyzes are carried out using various techniques. One of these techniques is Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), a qualitative method that detects cases of adulteration in plant and animal products.
TentaStart
TentaStart supports start-ups in turning their innovative ideas into concrete, marketable products. Before a product is launched on the market, TentaStart informs manufacturers about the labeling and the legal requirements that they must meet.
HACCP development
In 2019, Tentamus developed a new guide that describes the rules for good hygiene practice. This guide contained a template for HACCP-based procedures as well as a range of services, including hygiene plans, checklists and documentation templates. It did so in response to various product recalls of 16 different ice cream products in the US between 2013 and 2015 that were contaminated with pathogens. To provide support, the Tentamus Group developed an updated hygiene guideline that supports ice cream manufacturers with preventive measures to keep product standards high and reduce product recalls.
Appearance in the Netflix series "Rotten"
The Tentamus Laboratory QSI Bremen made an appearance in the Netflix documentary Rotten: Season 1, Episode 1 (Lawyers, Guns and Honey) on Netflix. The subject of this episode was food fraud in the form of honey stretching with cheap syrup. In the documentation it was reported that the QSI Bremen has been testing honey for its quality and purity since the 1950s and has refined the test methods in order to keep pace with modern methods of food fraud. The tests are carried out to check for adulteration and residues. QSI manager Gudrun Beckh stated: "As long as money can be made, the fraud will continue".
