Terence 'Banjo' Bannon (born November 24, 1967 in Newry , Northern Ireland ) is a Northern Irish mountaineer and adventurer.

Life

After Dawson Stelfox, Terence Bannon is the second Northern Irishman to climb Mount Everest on May 31, 2003. In May 2004 he was honored with a stone tablet, the rocky contour of which is supposed to remind of Mount Everest. It is located in front of Newry Town Hall, Northern Ireland. He was also given the honorary status of Freedom of the City of Newry .

In August 2006 he tried to climb K2 with a team of nine . Almost 200 meters below the summit there was a serious avalanche accident in which four Russian climbers on the expedition team were killed.
