Terje Lien Aasland (born February 15, 1965 in Skien ) is a Norwegian politician of the social democratic Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). Since 2005 he has been a member of parliament in Storting .

Life

Aasland trained as an energy fitter from 1984 to 1986 . He then worked in this profession for various employers. Between 1991 and 2003 he was a member of the local parliament of Skien , and from 1998 to 2000 he held the post of deputy chairman of the Arbeiderpartiet in what was then the province of Telemark . From 2006 to 2020 he was the first chairman of the Telemarker Arbeiderparti. From 2001 he was also vice chairman of the trade union confederation Landsorganisasjonen i Norge (LO) in Grenland .

Aasland moved into the Norwegian national parliament in Storting for the first time in the 2005 general election and has since represented the Telemark constituency. From October 2009 to September 2013 he was chairman of the economic committee and a member of the parliamentary committee of his party. He was then deputy chairman of the Energy and Environment Committee until September 2017. After the 2017 election , he became Deputy Chairman of the Economic Committee.
