Terpersie Castle is a 16th century tower house in the village of Tullynessle , about 3 miles northwest of Alford in the Scottish county of Aberdeenshire . Historic Scotland has listed it as a Category A Historic Building.
history
The small Tower House with a Z-shaped floor plan was built by the Gordon clan in 1561 . In 1665 it was restored after a fire. It was abandoned after 1885 and fell into disrepair for most of the 20th century. In the 1980s, the architects William Cowie Partnership restored the castle as a residential building.

Terpersie Castle is one of the first tower houses with a Z-shaped floor plan. It consists of a rectangular main block with round towers on opposite corners. The main block of Terpersie Castle has a footprint of 8.5 meters by 5.5 meters and the two round towers have a diameter of 5.2 meters.
