Great Peoples is a Terra-X documentary series that sheds light on the roots of Europe and the nations that pioneered the modern age. The unmoderated ZDF series was first broadcast in 2014. A second season followed in October 2016.

Content and production

Great Peoples deals with the ideas and inventions of the ancient European peoples and how they shape our lives today.

The first season looked at the cultural achievements of the Greeks , Romans and Vikings and their significance for modern Europe.

It was first broadcast on March 9, 2014 on ZDF.

Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion GmbH was involved in the production, Uwe Kersken was the producer, Nadine Klemens was the production manager and Claudia Moroni was part of the editorial team.

The second season dealt with the Carthaginian , Germanic and Arab peoples .
