Terrence Parker
Terrence Parker is an American disco - / Funky House - DJ and music producer from Detroit .
In addition to his real name, he used a variety of pseudonyms for his productions, including Seven Grand Housing Authority, 2 Sweat Doctors, Disco Revisited, Fishtail, Jovan Blade, Lake Mead Drive, The Lost Articles, Madd Phlavor, Minimum Wage Brothers, Plastic Soul Junkies , Polartronics, Prolific, Telephone, Tia's Daddy. He also became known because he used a converted telephone receiver instead of headphones when mixing. This earned him the nickname The Telephone Man .
Life
Parker was influenced by gospel and later by early Detroit techno . After Parker made a name for himself in the Detroit club scene as a hip-hop DJ, he turned to house more and more in the late 1980s. His productions have appeared on labels such as 430 West Records and K7 .
In 1993 he released his first track under the pseudonym Seven Grand Housing Authority. The Question became a club hit, especially in Europe, and Parker was awarded a contract in Great Britain with the record label 6 × 6 , a sub-label of Sony Music . After commercial release, the single entered the UK charts in October 1993. The club hit I Wanna Go Higher followed in the same year .
After separating from Sony Music, Parker only released for the Intangible Records label . His club hit Love's Got Me High helped this label to gain worldwide renown. After various other productions, the debut album by Seven Grand Housing Authority was released in 1997 , which Parker produced in the Berlin studio K7 .
Since 2007 he has been publishing mainly on his own label Parker MusicWorks .
