The terrorist attack in Kabul on April 19, 2016 were a suspected suicide terrorist attack of Taliban killed at least 64 people and injured about 347 people.

There was a violent explosion in the center of Kabul . The attack is said to have targeted the Afghan secret service headquarters. An explosive vehicle drove near the entrance to the intelligence building and the suicide bomber blew himself up there. Other terrorists opened fire shortly afterwards. Subsequently, further sporadic fighting and firefights in the Kabul region with the Afghan security forces were reported and some arrests of alleged perpetrators and Taliban supporters were reported.

While few deaths and injuries were reported at the beginning, their number increased considerably during the course of the day. The majority of the victims of the explosions were seriously injured and are in critical condition. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani blamed the Taliban for the attack and condemned it in the strongest possible terms, as well as threatening retaliation. The attack was the worst in Kabul since 2001. The Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid assumed responsibility for the attack.
