The terrorist attack in Kabul on August 7, 2019 was a car bomb attack that killed 14 people and injured 145 others. The Taliban claimed the attack for themselves.

Presidential elections are to be held in Afghanistan at the end of September. In total, more than 1,500 civilians were killed or injured in July 2019. The USA and Taliban have been negotiating a solution to the armed conflict in Afghanistan since July 2018 . The peace efforts are about the withdrawal of American troops and a guarantee by the Taliban that Afghanistan will not become a "safe haven for terrorists".

Car bomb

On August 7, 2019, a car loaded with explosives exploded in front of a police station in western Kabul. 14 people died and 145 others were injured. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack and declared that the attack was aimed at a "enemy recruitment center".
