Terziarenkloster Rothenburg ob der Tauber
The Terziarenkloster Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a former monastery of the Terziaren of the Franciscans in Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bavaria in the diocese of Bamberg .
history
The monastery was founded before 1400, when members of the Franciscan Third Order joined together to form a monastic community that initially lived in the Franciscan monastery ; towards the end of the 14th century they were given a brother house with a prayer room. Pope Boniface IX granted them tax exemption in 1400. The completely destitute men were taken care of by the city and the Franciscan monastery and collected alms . The brothers took care of the everyday problems of the townspeople and made visits to the sick.
In 1541 the monastery died out as a result of the peasant wars and the Reformation . The house was demolished in 1579 and the site sold. The street name "Brudergäßchen" reminds of the monastery.
