The Terzio Verlag is a German publishing house , which specializes in media for children 3 to 14 years. From its foundation in 1997 to 2011, it was based in Munich. The Carlsen Verlag , based in Hamburg, acquired it in 2012 and continues it as its own imprint.

The publishing house was founded in 1997 by Iris Bellinghausen and Ralph Möllers and was based in Munich. In addition to books and CDs, his products also include software.

The rise to the German market leader in the children's software segment began with the Löwenzahn CD-ROM series, which was designed as a co-production with ZDF . Another successful product was added in 2000 with Ritter Rost . In 2002 Terzio and ChessBase created the chess learning program for children Fritz and Ready - learn and train chess . In 2004 Terzio entered the children's DVD business with Willy Werkel and Ritter Rost.

Edition quinto , published by the former Berlin-based publisher Christine Paxmann , has also been part of the publishing house since 2007 . In this independent book series, literary books for children and young people appear. Terzio had also been the majority shareholder of Titania Verlag since January 2007 . The publisher and co-partner of Titania Verlag is Mathias Berg . Among other things, the picture book classics by Fritz Baumgarten appear at Titania .

On August 11, 2011 Terzio sold his shares in Titania Verlag to Edition XXL . On January 1, 2012, Carlsen Verlag , Hamburg, took over the rights and inventory of Terzio Verlag, Terzio will continue to operate as its own imprint. Möllers and Bellinghausen continue to market (as licensees) the music, stage, film / TV and all ancillary rights of Ritter Rost . With the Quinto brand , they will also continue to operate as a children's media publisher.
