Teskere

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Teskere ( tezkere  /تذكيره / teẕkīre  / 'Billet, Note, Permit') was a paper in the Ottoman Empire that was officially issued by the authorities.

The teskere served various purposes, such as the business license or the permission to travel in the interior of the country. Thus, the Teskere can be seen as the predecessor of the business license and the passport of Turkey.

Teskere-ji was called the notary and first secretary of the Grand Vizier and the First Minister.
