Johannes Simon Lischka (born April 2, 1987 in Giessen ) is a German basketball player .

Career

The 2.03 m tall and 106 kg heavy forward started his sporting career at VfB Gießen and switched to the second division TV Lich in 2005 , where he was also used as a double licensed player for the first division and cooperation partner Gießen 46ers from 2007 . In the ProA 2008/09 he was awarded the title “Youngster of the Year” as the best young player in the ProA second division , and in August 2009 he was appointed to the men's national team for the first time by national coach Dirk Bauermann . In 2010 he switched to league competitor EnBW Ludwigsburg , where he promised better sporting prospects. Although he was able to increase his personal playing times at Ludwigsburg to over 20 minutes per game, the team has not been able to qualify for the play-offs for the German championship in the past seasons , instead they fought like the Giessen in the BBL 2011/12 against relegation from the top division. For the 2012/2013 season he did not sign a new contract in Ludwigsburg and left the club after two years. He moved again within the league and joined the Walter Tigers Tübingen until 2014 .

In November 2013, Lischka was diagnosed with a brain tumor that was removed in an operation. After the operation, Lischka struggled with the side effects of the operation, as certain hormones were no longer produced and he gained heavily as a result. Four weeks after his return to the field, Lischka took a break because, in his opinion, he was not getting enough time to play. During this break he wanted to a. try to lose weight again.

For the 2014/2015 season, Lischka left Tübingen and moved within the league. He signed a contract for a year with the Central German Basketball Club from Weißenfels. Before the start of the season, the contract was terminated and Lischka returned to his hometown Gießen to play again for the Gießen 46ers . After eight appearances in the ProA, he took another break in November 2014, before the announcement of his move to the MLP Academics Heidelberg in the 2nd ProA basketball league on June 10, 2015 . In November 2015, he announced the end of his professional basketball career. "His energy was no longer sufficient to meet the expectations in professional basketball," said a press release by the Heidelberg club on the occasion of Lischka's end of career.

Despite his retirement as a professional player, Lischka was still active in basketball and played for TV Lich in the 1st regional league. In the 2016/17 season he occasionally helped out with the Licher Basket Bears in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB .

Since the 17/18 season Lischka has been playing in the ProB for the Depant Gießen 46ers Rackelos . The newly formed team finished the season in second place in the table and thus qualified for the playoffs. For Lischka it was the first playoff participation in the course of his professional career.

His brother Benjamin Lischka , who is two years younger than him, is also a professional basketball player and is under contract with Telekom Baskets Bonn in the Bundesliga .
