Justus Hollatz (born April 21, 2001 in Hamburg ) is a German basketball player .

career

Hollatz grew up in the Hamburg district of Langenbek . He came to basketball through a basketball study group at the Marmstorf elementary school and then played like his two older brothers Joshua and Jacob in the youth of the BG Harburg Hittfeld. He also played soccer , at the age of twelve he was given the opportunity to join the youth team at FC St. Pauli . According to his own statement, Hollatz estimated his career opportunities in basketball to be higher than in football.

In the 2016/17 season Hollatz scored an average of 20.1 points per game for Harburg Hittfeld's U16 team in the youth basketball league .

During the 2017/18 season, Hollatz made his debut at SC Rist Wedel in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB and at the same time played for the U19 Piraten Hamburg, the youth team of the Hamburg Towers , in the youth basketball league .

For the 2018/19 season he was also included in the Towers squad and celebrated his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA on the first matchday in a duel with Baunach . With the Towers he made it to the basketball league as a ProA champion and played a decisive role in Hamburg’s success in the championship round. In the fourth game of the semi-final series against Chemnitz, Hollatz scored 16 points shortly after his 18th birthday. In the second and decisive final against Nuremberg, he secured his team the championship title with a three-point throw nine seconds before the end of the game.

In total, he was on the field in 24 games for the Towers in the championship year and came up with averages of 3.1 points and 1.9 assists. In addition, he played 17 games for Wedel in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB and scored an average of 5.8 points, 4.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.5 ball wins.

In a vote carried out by the 2nd Bundesliga, Hollatz was awarded the ProA “Youngster of the Year” award following the 2018/19 season.

In May 2019 Hollatz signed a three-year contract with Hamburg Towers. Thanks to a double license, he will continue to play for Wedel in the ProB.

In December 2018, Hollatz was appointed to the German U18 national team.

family

Hollatz comes from a basketball enthusiastic family. His sister Josefine plays in the BG Harburg-Hittfeld and in the Hamburg selection, and his brother Joshua plays in the BG Harburg-Hittfeld in the men's upper league. His brother Jacob plays for Oldenburg in the basketball league and his father was also a basketball player.
