ProA 2013/14

Basketball Bundesliga 2014/15

The 2014/15 season was the eighth season of the German ProA basketball division . The ProA is the first season of the hierarchically structured 2nd basketball league . The regular season began on September 27, 2014 and ended on March 28, 2015, which was followed by the play-offs for promotion. The play-offs ended on May 3, 2015 with the second final game, in which the Gießen 46ers defeated the first s.Oliver Baskets in the main round after adding the first and second leg.

mode

16 teams took part in the league as planned, playing a regular season as a round-robin tournament in the "everyone against everyone" mode with a return game. The eight best-placed teams in the final table played two finalists in the play-offs in the "Best-of-Five" mode , who thereby acquire the athletic right to participate in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), which they apply when a BBL license is granted Based on economic and infrastructural criteria, eligible for promotion to the BBL. The finalists also play the champions of this league in the two legs. The two worst teams relegated to the lower season ProB of the second division.

conditions

In order to be granted a license, the participating clubs must provide their proof of sporting qualifications, economic performance, suitability of technical facilities and organizational requirements, which is regulated by the license statute. In terms of game technology, a venue with a capacity for 1,500 spectators is particularly required. In addition, the organization of the club, the promotion of young talent and the venue infrastructure are assessed according to a point system in which at least 100 points must be achieved in this season.

During the game there must always be two German players per team on the field, the German players are marked with a German flag on their jerseys. A maximum of 18 players per season and team can be used. At least nine of these must have German citizenship. Of the maximum of twelve players that can be used per game, at least six must be German. There are double licenses for players in the U24 age group with the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) and for U22 players from the regional leagues (and below). These players are not among the 18 maximum players that can be used, but they do count towards the national quota, provided they are German citizens.

Season Notes

  • Before the season, the official website of the 2nd basketball league, i.e. for ProA and ProB together, was revised.
  • The s.Oliver Baskets Würzburg and SC Rasta Vechta are relegated from the basketball Bundesliga 2013/14 .
  • The finalist Bike-Café Messingschlager Baunach was promoted from the ProB 2013/14 . ProB-Meister Baskets Akademie Weser-Ems Oldenburger TB did not apply for a license and thus forfeited the athletic promotion right.
  • The Hamburg Towers received the now vacant license of the BAWE Oldenburger TB, who is eligible for promotion , by wildcard .
  • The game between the finke baskets Paderborn and the Chemnitz Niners on the 27th and fourth last game day started with a 25-minute delay, as the game display that had failed before the start of the game could only be restarted with a delay. The request for the Chemnitz 99ers to be awarded the game rating was granted by the arbitral tribunal, which means that the finke baskets not only lost their sporting rating after their 69:62 victory, but also one additional rating point. This decision, which was only announced in the week before the last match day and prematurely decided the fight for relegation, made international headlines as a result of its circumstances and was contested by the finke baskets. This challenge was finally granted, so that the Cuxhaven BasCats were second relegated. The successful challenge was only announced when the license application from the Cuxhaven BasCats for the coming season had already been rejected.
