↑ ProA 2011/12 |
The 2011/12 season is the fifth season of the German ProB basketball division . The ProB is the second season of the hierarchically structured 2. Basketball Bundesliga (2. BBL). The regular season began on September 22, 2011 and ended on February 25, 2012. The first play-offs began on March 3, 2012 and ended on April 21, 2012.
mode
Twelve teams each in two groups, north and south, took part in this division's play. After the Dragons Rhöndorf withdrew from the ProA 2011/12 before the start of the season, the group north was expanded by one team to thirteen teams. The regular season was played as a round- robin tournament in the mode everyone against everyone ( English "Round Robin" ) with a return game in the respective regional group. The eight best-placed teams at the end of this main round played the two finalists in the play-offs in the "best-of-three" mode , both of whom acquired the right to participate in the ProA for the following season and played off the champions of this division. The four worst teams in the end played in so-called play-downs in the "best-of-three" mode to stay in the league. The four losers in the play-down series were relegated to the regional leagues.
conditions
Among other things, the participating teams had to:
- play in a hall with 500 seats,
- have six players in the squad who are German citizens .
During a game, three German players per team had to be used on the field; the German players were marked with a German flag on the jerseys.
A maximum of 18 players per season and team could be used. At least nine of them had to be German citizens. Of the maximum of twelve players that could be used per game, at least six had to be German. There were double licenses for players in the U24 age group, who could then be used in the basketball Bundesliga (BBL) at the same time , as well as for U22 players from the regional leagues (and below). Players with a double license were not among the 18 maximum usable players, but those with German citizenship were included in the national quota.
Season Notes
- From the ProA 2010/11 there were no relegations due to the license withdrawal of the GiroLive-Ballers Osnabrück and the USC Freiburg, which was also valid for the ProB . However, before the start of the season, the UBC Hannover Tigers and the Dragons Rhöndorf withdrew from the ProA and played in the ProB. While the UBC was replaced by the Nürnberger BC , who played together with the sporty climbers erdgas Ehingen / Urspringschule and TOPSTAR Kangaroos in the ProA 2011/12 , the place of the Dragons was not replaced, so that the ProA in this season with one team less and the ProB Group North played with one more team.
- With the withdrawal of the ProA relegated license, the sporty relegated Oettinger Rockets Gotha and Fraport Junior Skyliners kept their class in the ProB, while the Panthers Schwenningen and HolidayCheck Baskets had to relegate to the regional leagues.
- Promoted from the regional leagues in the group north were the BG Dorsten after the resignation of SG Sechtem and the BSW Sixers after the resignation of the regional league team of BG 74 Göttingen , while the group south rose the White Wings Hanau and the Giants Nördlingen .
- In the play-downs, in contrast to the previous season, with the exception of the Gießen Pointers, only the clubs in the south group were able to secure their league, of the north clubs only the Bayer Giants Leverkusen managed to do so in the play-downs . As ninth place in the group north, the BSV Wulfen had already secured relegation after the end of the main round.
- In the play-off semi-final series, the ratio was exactly the opposite of that in the play-downs 3 to 1 in favor of the north.
- The Oettinger Rockets Gotha, who had been relegated in the previous season, won the championship final series against third place in the north, SC RASTA Vechta , as the first in the main round in the southern group .

1 The Oettinger Rockets Gotha were denied a win and one point was deducted because an unreported player played.
2 A maximum of twelve points were deducted from BG Illertal-Weißenhorn for violating the licensing statute; since Weißenhorn only achieved six points, all points were deducted.
