The 2019/20 season was the thirteenth season of the German ProB basketball division (full name Barmer 2. Basketball Bundesliga ProB ). The ProB is the second highest season of the hierarchically structured 2nd basketball league and thus the third highest division nationwide. The points round of the season began on September 21, 2019. On March 17, the season before the start of the championship and relegation round was prematurely ended due to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus .

mode

In the league, 24 teams took part as planned, divided into a north and a south relay. In each season, a round of points was played as a round-robin tournament in the "everyone against everyone" mode with a return game. The eight best-placed teams of the two relays in the final table should have played out two finalists in the championship round ("playoffs"), who would have acquired the athletic right to participate in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA, which they would have if a license was granted on the basis of economic and infrastructure Criteria for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga ProA would have justified. The championship round should have been held across relays and in the first round provided for "cross duels" between teams from the north and south seasons. The finalists should also have played the champions of this division in the two legs. The teams in the ninth to twelfth places in the final table of the scoring round in both seasons should have played a relegation round, which, unlike the championship round, would only have provided games within their own season ("everyone against everyone" with a return game).
