basketball

The flagship of the basketball department is the men's team. Under coach Goran Culum one rose from the league to the 1st regional league. In 2011, Mišel Lazarević took on the role of coach instead of Culum. Under his leadership, the team played for the championship title in the 1st Regionalliga Südost in the 2012/13 season, but narrowly missed it as second in the table. Until 2016, the troupe was looked after for three years by the former national player Robert Maras in the 1st Regionalliga Südost. He was succeeded by Mario Matic . Under Matić they became runner-up in 2018 and champions of the 1st Regionalliga Southeast in 2019. Winning the championship title was described by the Merkur newspaper as the greatest basketball success in the history of the TSV Oberhaching-Deisenhofen club. The top scorer of the championship team was Moritz Wohlers with 14.5 points per match, other top performers were the American John Boyer, the Serb Miljan Grujic as well as Janosch Kögler, Ognjen Zoric and Christian Hustert. In order to be able to enjoy the promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga ProB , the club had to overcome several organizational hurdles: Among other things, the previous home ground on Kyberg was left in order to play the games in the future in the sports hall on Schulstrasse in Deisenhofen . In May 2019, TSV Oberhaching-Deisenhofen was granted the right to participate in the ProB subject to certain conditions. Even after the promotion to the third highest German division, the club planned to do without professional players. The 2019/20 season, which ended prematurely in mid-March 2020 due to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus , ended the team as penultimate of the ProB southern season. On the part of the league, however, it was decided that there would be no relegation due to the shortened season. The team's best average points was achieved by the American with a German passport, Omari Knox, who came during the season (14.9 points / game), followed by Moritz Wohlers with 14.3.
