Moritz Wohlers

Moritz Jürgen Wohlers (born April 15, 1984 in Wolfenbüttel ) is a German basketball player. The 2.03 meter tall indoor player was part of the Bundesliga team Eisbären Bremerhaven and was a German A2 national player.

career

The son of the former national basketball player Jürgen Wohlers played in the youth department of MTV Wolfenbüttel before he went to the United States in 2001 . After a season at Benton Consolidated High School, Illinois , he went to Lewis and Clark Community College (also in Illinois) in 2002 to study and played for the college's basketball selection.

In 2004 he moved to McKendree College in the NAIA , in 2005 he went to Montana State University-Billings (second division of the NCAA ). There Wohlers played his senior year at university level in the 2005/06 round and was the team's second-best thrower with 19.4 points per match. With 8.0 rebounds per game, he also posted the highest value within the team.

From 2006 to 2008 Wohlers went basketball in the British Basketball League for the Scottish Rocks , with which he was runner-up in 2007. In the run-up to the 2008/09 game year he was first reported as a new addition to the Bundesliga club BG Göttingen , but it came to a separation before the start of the season, Wohlers was instead obliged by Göttingen's league rival Eisbären Bremerhaven . For the Eisbären he played 16 Bundesliga matches in the 2008/09 season and achieved averages of 1.3 points and a rebound per game.

In the 2009/10 season, Wohlers played for FC Bayern Munich in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA and then withdrew from the professional field. Between 2011 and 2015 he strengthened TSV Oberhaching-Deisenhofen in the first regional league. There followed two years (2015 to 2017) at relay competitor MTSV Schwabing before he returned to Oberhaching-Deisenhofen for the 2017/18 season. In the 2018/19 game year, Wohlers became champions of the 1st Regionalliga Südost with the team and played a major role in this success as the best scorer in the team (14.5 points / game).

National team

In 2007 he took part in the Universiade in Bangkok with the German national student team (also A2 national team) .
