ProB 2010/11
The 2010/11 season is the fourth season of the German ProB basketball division . The ProB is the second season of the hierarchically structured 2. Basketball Bundesliga (2. BBL). It was the first season in which the ProB was divided into two regional groups like the 2. BBL before 2007 and expanded to a total of 24 teams. The regular season began on September 18, 2010 and ended on February 26, 2011. The first play-offs began on March 4, 2011 and ended on April 26, 2011.
mode
This season, twelve teams each in two groups, north and south, took part in this division's play. The regular season was played as a round- robin tournament in the mode everyone against everyone ( English "Round Robin" ) with a return game in the respective regional group. The eight best-placed teams at the end of this main round played cross -wise in the "best-of-three" mode in the play-offs of the two finalists, who both acquired the right to participate in the ProA for the following season and played the champions of this division . The four worst teams in the end played in so-called play-downs in the "best-of-three" mode to stay in the league. The four losers in the play-down series were relegated to the regional leagues.
conditions
Among other things, the participating teams had to:
- play in a hall with 500 seats,
- have six players in the squad who are German citizens .
During a game, three German players per team had to be used on the field; the German players were marked with a German flag on the jerseys.
A maximum of 18 players per season and team could be used. At least nine of them had to be German citizens. Of the maximum of twelve players that could be used per game, at least six had to be German. There were double licenses for players in the U24 age group, who could then be used in the basketball Bundesliga (BBL) at the same time , as well as for U22 players from the regional leagues (and below). Players with a double license were not among the 18 maximum usable players, but those with German citizenship were included in the national quota.
Season Notes
- From the ProA 2009/10 , the TV 1862 Langen descended into the ProB Group South and the Giants Nördlingen , who, however, decided not to start in this division and withdrew to the regional league.
- With the withdrawal of the Nördlingers, the Licher BasketBears kept their class in the ProB, while last year BIS Baskets Speyer relegated to the regional league.
- The Hertener Löwen , who were athletically qualified for the ProA, renounced the promotion after they were not granted a ProA license at the first attempt and stayed in the ProB for another season. In return , the Würzburg Baskets moved up into the ProA 2010/11 .
- By increasing the league to 24 teams, there were ten promoted teams from the regional leagues. ALBA Berlin “U24” , SSV Lokomotive Bernau , Uni-Riesen Leipzig , Schwelmer Baskets and BSV Wulfen were new to the North Group after ex-second division Elephants Grevenbroich had resigned . Gießen Pointers , Oettinger Rockets Gotha , HolidayCheck Baskets , BG Leitershofen / Stadtbergen and the wiha Panthers Schwenningen joined the group south .
- The "ProB Player of the Year 2010" Ahmad Smith scored a triple-double in eight appearances for the Nuremberg BC . Willis Gardner also achieved a triple-double for the Licher BasketBären in the South group and Monyea Pratt for the Uni-Giants Leipzig in the North group.
- In the play-downs, only the clubs in the North group were able to secure their relegation, while all the clubs in the South group lost their series against the North clubs.
- Conversely, in the semi-final series of the play-offs, which represented the decisive round for the promotion places, only teams from the south group. The southern main round first Ehingen and second Leitershofen were able to gain the athletic promotion places and move into the final series, which Ehingen won in the third and decisive game in front of the home crowd with 91:65 (29:36) on April 26, 2011 and thus ProB champions 2011 became.

2 Young only played ten games, one less than half the time, so his average high is not counted as a high in that column.
3 Henley played 39:53 minutes when he collected his 19 rebounds, while Seiferth was on the field for the full 40 minutes when he recorded the same number of rebounds.
