ProB 2009/10
The 2009/10 season is the third season of the German ProB basketball division . The ProB is the second season of the hierarchically structured 2nd basketball league . The regular season began on September 25, 2009 and ended on April 24, 2010.
mode
In this season 16 teams took part in the game operation of this division. The two best-placed teams in the end acquired the right to participate in the ProA for the following season. The two worst teams in the end were relegated to the respective regional leagues. In the following ProB 2010/11 , the ProB was divided into two regional relays, north and south, with twelve teams each.
conditions
Among other things, the participating teams had to:
- play in a hall with 500 seats,
- have six players in the squad who are German citizens .
During a game, three German players per team had to be used on the field; the German players were marked with a German flag on the jerseys.
A maximum of 18 players per season and team could be used. At least nine of them had to be German citizens. Of the maximum of twelve players that could be used per game, at least six had to be German. There were double licenses for players in the U24 age group, who could then be used in the basketball Bundesliga (BBL) at the same time , as well as for U22 players from the regional leagues (and below). Players with a double license were not among the 18 maximum usable players, but those with German citizenship were included in the national quota.
Season Notes
- The Crailsheim Merlins were promoted to the ProA . Furthermore, the GiroLive-Ballers Osnabrück , the USC Freiburg and the UBC Hannover Tigers had left the ProB before the season for the ProA by renouncing licenses by other clubs. The Licher BasketBears were the sporty relegators from the ProA to the ProB .
- Schalke 04 , a relegated athlete from the ProA, completely renounced a license and went back to the Regionalliga West . The Bremen Roosters from the ProA also had to forego a license completely. From the ProB, the ASC Theresianum Mainz decided not to participate in another season and ultimately also the TG Landshut
- The Dukes Wolfenbüttel , who were athletically qualified for the ProA, decided not to advance and stayed in the ProB for another season. In addition, the “Franken Witcher”, who had been relegated in sport, received a license for another ProB season as the Nuremberg basketball club after Telemotive Munich had given up, as did BIS Baskets Speyer .
- Moved up from the regional leagues: Würzburg Baskets , BC Weißenhorn , Bayer Giants Leverkusen and SC Rist Wedel as well as the Deutsche Bank Junior Skyliners (after Landshut waived their license) and SC RASTA Vechta (after moving up USC Freiburg into ProA)
- While Henje Knopke (Dukes Wolfenbüttel) and Thomas Fairley (Licher BasketBären) each played a triple-double , the later “Player of the Year” Ahmad Smith ( Hertener Löwen ) achieved three triple-doubles in 29 games this season.
