Maurice Stuckey (born May 30, 1990 in Augsburg ) is a German basketball player . He currently plays for the Bundesliga club Crailsheim Merlins .

Career

The 1.87 m tall and 81 kg heavy Stuckey, who is used in the positions of Point Guard and Shooting Guard, began his career in the Regionalliga Südost at BG Leitershofen / Stadtbergen, for which he ran until 2007. Stuckey, who was already described by Michael Jordan in 2006 in his “Jordan Classics Camp” as “the most talented young German player” and named the most valuable player (MVP) of the camp, then played for two years in the ProB for Erdgas Ehingen / Urspring School , where he averaged 8.4 points per game in his last season. At the same time, Stuckey went on a basket hunt for the Alba Urspring team in the NBBL . At the beginning of the 2009/10 season, Stuckey then signed a three-year contract with Brose Baskets Bamberg , which gave him a double license and was therefore eligible to play in both the Bundesliga and ProB. Stuckey celebrated his first appearance in the Bundesliga on November 8, 2009 in Bamberg's game against Alba Berlin . Stuckey scored his first points in Germany's strongest basketball league ten days later against Ratiopharm Ulm . On the 2nd match day of the 2010/11 season, in the game between Bamberg and Bremerhaven , he came to his first extended service in the Bundesliga. He played a total of 23 minutes and scored twelve points.

After Stuckey was unable to collect further playing time as he had hoped due to an injury, he was initially awarded by the Brose Baskets to the s.Oliver Baskets from Würzburg for the 2012/2013 season, before he was then permanently signed by them the following year.

For the 2014/15 season, Stuckey moved to EWE Baskets Oldenburg and signed a two-year contract there, but returned to s.Oliver Baskets in Würzburg in 2015. In May 2018, Stuckey was signed by Brose Bamberg, so he returned to a previous place of work. In the 2019/20 season he only played an average of seven minutes per game for Bamberg in the Bundesliga and moved to the Crailsheim Merlins within the league at the beginning of December 2019 .

Youth national teams

The Augsburg-born player played his first major tournament as a German national youth player in August 2007 at the U18 European Championship, where he played all eight games of the German national team in the tournament and scored a total of 57 baskets. The German selection, however, was eliminated in the intermediate round.

Then he made the leap into the German U20 team, with which he took part in the European Championships in Greece from July 16 to 26, 2009 and achieved an average of 5.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
