Marco Völler (born January 6, 1989 in Offenbach am Main ) is a German basketball player who has been under contract with the Bundesliga club Fraport Skyliners since December 2017 .

Career

At first Völler, like his father Rudi , played football at Kickers Offenbach up to the C-youth . However, he saw no talent in playing football, so he started playing basketball at EOSC Offenbach at the age of 14 . There his trainer Helmut Rödl recognized his talent and let him play permanently.

During a game of the EOSC in 2005 against the second team of TV Langen, Völler was positively noticed by the coach Jürgen Barth , whereupon he was invited to a trial training session. He was convincing and joined the TV youth team for the 2005/06 season. In his first season he and the team won the German U-18 championship.

From the 2007/08 season Marco Völler played in the first team of TV Langen in the 2nd basketball league . After five years he left the club and went to the Hanau White Wings . From the 2014/15 season to 2016, Völler was under contract with the Oettinger Rockets from Gotha .

In April 2016 he was introduced as a new addition by Bundesliga club Gießen 46ers . In February 2017, Völler tested positive for doping . After a hearing in early June that year, both Völler and his teammate Cameron Wells were banned for three months. According to the anti-doping agency of the German Basketball Federation , the violation was caused by the consumption of contaminated food supplements.

On December 8, 2017, Völler moved to the Fraport Skyliners in Frankfurt and is eligible to play for the Fraport Skyliners Juniors in the Pro B as well as in the Bundesliga basketball league .
