The Munich Peace of Mind is an international percussion formation from Munich .

The ensemble currently comprises over 20 musicians who perform under the motto “Percussion Pure - and more” at festivals, street parties, demonstrations, sporting events, as well as concerts and events of all kinds. The group is one of the co-founders of the Pflasterspektakel in Linz and has often participated in the Coburg Samba Festival as well as the Landshut City Spectacle , the Bremen Carnival and many more.

style

The group's repertoire is primarily based on Afro-Brazilian rhythms. The focus is on the Sambareggae from Bahia , the Samba Batucada from Rio de Janeiro , the Maracatu from Pernambuco and many other South American grooves.

history

It was founded on October 23, 1983. The occasion was the musical accompaniment of the resistance against the NATO retrofitting decisions .

The group combined their music with socio-cultural commitment from the start. The band's activities also include sessions in the scene ( Express Brass Band , Munich Alphorn Collective , Driftwood ) and workshops ( Dudu Tucci , Marcio Alves , Gilson de Assis , Omar Belmonte , Claudio Wilner ...).

Group philosophy

The samba group sees itself as a music collective ; there is no group leader. The internal structure is based on grassroots democratic decisions; the organization is shared.

social commitment

The band supports the aid organization Handicap International , which fights against the use of landmines and cluster munitions and works to improve the situation of people with disabilities.

The band works with the intercultural street football league Buntkicktgut at many events ( Corso Leopold , Streetlife Festival ).

Since 2015, the Munich is colorful association has repeatedly received loud musical support from the drummers of the Munich disturbance of the peace at its rallies for tolerance and against racism.
