Philipp Neumann (born February 20, 1992 in Cologne , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German basketball player. He is 2.10 meters tall and can play in power forward and center positions. Neumann was considered one of the greatest German basketball talents of his year.
Career
Neumann played in his youth for TV Langen , including in the U14 league. He then played in the U16 league at SSKC Aschaffenburg / Klein-Krotzenburg. He quickly aroused the interest of larger clubs through the selection team of the Hessian Basketball Association. The Franken Hexer club from Nuremberg made the race for the boy, who had meanwhile become a youth national player. At the age of 18 he signed his first professional contract with Brose Baskets from Bamberg.
In the 2009/2010 season, Neumann only got a little working time, but celebrated the German championship and the cup victory with the Brose Baskets. In the two following seasons he was also German champion and cup winner.
On April 23, 2013 Neumann registered for the 2013 NBA draft, but withdrew these registrations after winning the German championship.
In December 2013 Neumann switched from Brose Baskets to EWE Baskets Oldenburg on loan . In June 2014, EWE Baskets Oldenburg took a purchase option and signed Neumann for the 2014/2015 season. With this team he won another cup in 2015. After his contract expired, Neumann was unable to agree on a new contract with EWE Baskets and switched to Ratiopharm ulm .
In the 2016/17 season Neumann moved from Ulm to Vechta . With the Lower Saxony he rose from the top German league.
Then Neumann was without a club for a few months before joining the Crailsheim Merlins (also 2nd Bundesliga ProA) at the end of January 2018 . With the Hohenlohern he was behind his former club from Vechta 2018 runner-up in the Pro A, which also meant promotion to the Bundesliga. On the way to this success Neumann scored an average of 6.1 points in 19 competitive matches and collected 5.2 rebounds per encounter. In 2018/19 he played 32 Bundesliga games for Crailsheim, scored an average of 7.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per encounter and achieved relegation with the team on the last match day. At the end of June 2019, he left the Merlins.
At the end of September 2019, Neumann was signed by the second division Tigers Tübingen .
