Arnulf Häfele

Arnulf Franz Häfele (born May 6, 1946 in Hohenems ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Häfele was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from 1974 to 1999 and during this time from 1988 to 1993 the state party chairman of the SPÖ Vorarlberg .

Arnulf Häfele was born on May 6, 1946 as the son of the historian Franz Häfele and his wife Dora in Hohenems. After elementary school in Hohenems, Häfele attended grammar school in Feldkirch from 1956 to 1964 . He then completed a degree in social and economic history at the University of Innsbruck , during which time he worked at the Institute for Legal History from 1968 to 1970. During his studies he was a member of the Association of Socialist Students and as such from 1967 a member of the Scholarship Commission. In 1972 he was promoted to Dr. phil. doctorate and in the same year city party chairman of the SPÖ in his home community Hohenems.

From May 1, 1973, Häfele worked as the club secretary of the SPÖ state parliament club, and after the 1974 state election he also moved into the same on November 4, 1974 as a member of the 22nd Vorarlberg state parliament . From 1975 he was also a member of the municipal council and council in his home parish.

After Arnulf Häfele had completed a teaching degree for the subjects German and history at the University of Innsbruck in 1983/84, he began teaching at the BORG Dornbirn-Schoren in 1984 . This teaching activity he exercised until 1991 parallel to his political activities at the municipal and state level. In addition to his political mandates, Häfele was also elected regional party chairman of the SPÖ Vorarlberg on June 18, 1988. He exercised this function from November 9, 1992 together with that of the SPÖ club chairman in the state parliament. From 1990 to 1995, Häfele was also Vice Mayor in his home town of Hohenems. In 1993 he gave up the leadership of the state party and then the leadership of the state parliament club. In the 1994 state election , however, Häfele ran as the top candidate of the SPÖ Vorarlberg and was elected as such for a further legislative period until October 4, 1999.

From 1993 until his retirement in 2001, Arnulf Häfele again taught at the BORG Dornbirn-Schoren, while from 1997 onwards he studied law at the University of Innsbruck. In 2001 he graduated as Mag. Jur. and on November 20, 2004 the doctorate in law . Since November 2004, Arnulf Häfele has been chairman of Naturfreunde in Vorarlberg.
