Chris Alexander

Chris Alexander (born September 9, 1968 in Toronto ) is a Canadian politician and diplomat.

Alexander was Canadian Ambassador to Afghanistan from 2003 to 2005. from 2005 to 2009 he was Deputy Special Envoy of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan .

In the 2011 general election, he ran for the Conservatives in the Ajax - Pickering constituency in Ontario . He won with 44.07% against the previous MP Mark Holland from the Liberal Party .

From May 2011 to July 2013 was Alexander parliamentary secretary to the defense minister (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Defense) , from July 2013 to November 2015 he was Minister of Citizenship and Immigration (Minister of Citizenship and Immigration) in the cabinet of Stephen Harper . Since May 2013 he is a member of the Privy Council (Queen's Privy Council).

In the 2015 general election, he lost to his predecessor Mark Holland in the Ajax constituency.
