The TestDaF Institute was founded in the spring of 2001 to develop tasks for the test German as a Foreign Language (TestDaF), to conduct this test and to ensure adequate quality assurance. The TestDaF makes it easier for students to study at German universities, as applicants can take it in their home country.

It is an observing member of the Association of Language Testers in Europe . The TestDaF Institute is advised by a board of directors on scientific questions and is supported both legally and financially by the Society for Academic Study Preparation and Test Development eV .

aims

The objectives are:

  • the preparation of all examination tasks,
  • their correction,
  • the further development and
  • the organization of the test used worldwide.

The institute offers several examination dates every year, for which all examination documents are made available to the test centers.

Test centers and participants

There are around 440 test centers in 92 countries, and the TestDaF Institute strives to continuously increase the number of centers. New test centers are to be opened, especially at universities abroad and at universities in Germany.

  • the marketing for the exam.

In 2012, 24,261 people took an exam. A total of 160,351 candidates from 181 countries took the TestDaF between 2001 and 2012.
