Test area
A test area is a larger area on the earth's surface on which
- bio- or geoscientific experiments are carried out,
- Trends in vegetation or wildlife are observed under different conditions,
- the functionality of monitoring methods is tested,
- or experiments on a larger scale.
In German there are other terms whose mutual delimitation is not strictly possible. This includes
- the test area i. a. means a smaller area of the earth's surface; the term is mainly used in agriculture and forestry , e.g. B. for experimental gardens or experimental forests ;
- the test or sample areas , which serve as representative, mostly grid-like fixed plots for data collection over larger areas. The properties of the areas in between without measuring points are derived or interpolated from the data of the surrounding sample areas, e.g. B. for the construction of bio- or geographic information systems ;
- the spatial distribution of samples in the most diverse bio and geosciences as well as in business .
Test areas or large experimental plots are generally determined by the particular requirements of the research project is selected or the technical domain (for example, desert greening or the former nuclear test areas), while test areas for measurement points mostly in the geographic grid be created or profiles.
