Devil mountains

Teufberge arise in coal mining at depths of wells. Their composition depends on the composition of the overburden (e.g. limestone , marlstone , clay , mudstone , sandstone , dolomite or anhydrite ). Usually they are not economically viable and are called offset mountains reinstalled in the mine or on heaps disposed of as waste.
