The Teutsche Schule is an important half-timbered building from 1681 in the small town of Schleusingen in southern Thuringia .

The half-timbered in the Hennberg style stands on a sandstone plinth and is covered by a hipped gable roof. The building has been owned by the city since 2017. Long vacancies have left their mark on the substance. After the extensive renovation and restoration, an inn and guesthouse will revive the historic building at the new bus station. The opening is planned for September 2020.

School use

The splendid half-timbered building served as a western extension of the former Barefoot Monastery from 1502 for the teaching of the Hennebergisches Gymnasium, which had existed since 1577 .

Translocation

1868, the entire building was moved to its present location in Suhl street translocated . It had to change its location because the local Henneberg High School was to get a new building at this central location near the market square.

Raising

On October 7, 2017, it was announced at the public meeting of the city's building / economy / order committee that the entire structure was to be raised to street level in 2018. This corresponds to an increase of approx. 1.40 m. This should bring advantages both for the marketing of the property and for the protection against flooding of the adjacent alder . The street level has increased to the current level through numerous extensions since the middle of the 19th century.
