from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A text analysis grid or text analysis grid , also known as TAR , is an auxiliary tool used to analyze a text and which makes errors, particularly appropriate or inappropriate elements, identifiable. It is structured in the form of a “ checklist for checking the text”.

Use and structure

A text analysis grid makes it possible not only to list errors and deficiencies in a text, but also to discover the qualities of a text, in that the text to be analyzed and the like. a. is checked for orthography , punctuation , morphology and syntax . In the grid, points are awarded for each of the areas to be assessed, for example on a scale from zero to six.

Appropriate grids have also been developed for school books and teaching aids, which also include qualitative (didactic, educational functions).

Recently, online tools for text analysis have also been available, which formally analyze digital texts according to these criteria.

application

First of all, all abnormalities of a text are recorded and classified. This prevents the school tradition from orienting itself towards deficiencies. The first impressions are substantiated and secured with arguments; thus the grid makes the analyzers become aware of the weightings of the individual.

Zurich Text Analysis Grid (ZTAR)

The Zurich text analysis grid is a comprehensive, systematically grouped catalog of questions that you have to ask about a specific text if you want to get a differentiated view of the specific text. It was developed from 1988 to 1992 as part of a research project at the University of Zurich.
