Textile laboratory technician

Textile laboratory technician is a recognized training occupation in Germany under the Vocational Training Act , the training of which is regulated by the ordinance on vocational training for textile laboratory technicians . Textile laboratory assistants can choose between the main areas of textile technology, textile finishing and textile chemistry in their training. In Switzerland, training is regulated analogously to the federal law on vocational training . Textile laboratory assistants work in laboratories in the textile industry .

education

The Vocational Training Act does not require a school leaving certificate for training as a textile laboratory technician, but strong scientific and mathematical knowledge is desirable. The training lasts three years in Switzerland and three and a half years in Germany and is carried out as a so-called dual training in the company and in the vocational school.

For their work, textile laboratory assistants need a wide variety of testing devices (such as viscometers to determine strength, pH meters for the pH value , pilot systems to go through the production processes, etc.). They test the fabrics and chemicals that are used in the company in various ways for their usability and properties.

  • Evaluation and interpretation of all possible test results
  • Preparation of test reports and certificates for the goods
  • Controls according to the principles of environmental protection, safety and health protection (e.g. the wastewater is tested for formaldehyde emissions)
