The American Analog Set is an American indie post-rock band from Austin , Texas . A short form of the band name is amanset .

Band history

The American Analog Set was formed in 1995 from the band Electric Company . In addition to band leader Andrew Kenny, the founding members were the musicians Mark Smith and Lisa Roschmann. Soon after, Lee Gillespie joined the group. After just a few gigs, the independent label Emperor Jones noticed the band and signed them. Her first single Diana Slowburner was released in the same year . In the winter of 1995/96 the group recorded their debut album The Fun of Watching Fireworks , which was released in the summer of 1996. This was followed in 1997 by the album From Our Living Room to Yours and the EP Late One Sunday & The Following Morning . In the winter of 1998/99 the band began work on The Golden Band , their third studio album, which was completed in February 1999 and released in July. Lisa Roschmann left the group at the end of 1999. 2000 came with Sean Ripple, who should replace Lisa Roschmann, and Tom Hoff two new members to the band. For the fourth album Know By Heart , which was released in 2001, the band switched to Tiger Style Records , which did not change the sound significantly. In 2002 the band undertook a musical reorientation and opened up to Electronica , as can be clearly heard on the EP Updates and the album Promise of Love . In 2003 Tom Hoff left the group and was replaced by Craig McCaffrey. In 2005 The American Analog Set changed labels again and released Set Free as the last album so far on Arts & Crafts .
