The Arrogant Worms are a Canadian music group from Kingston , Ontario .

history

The Arrogant Worms were founded in 1991, initially they only played skits and smaller musical pieces for a university campus radio in Kingston. While the pure skits were only moderately well received, the music was quickly discovered by the national radio station CBC Radio One and incorporated into its program. Since then, the Arrogant Worms have released a total of 13 albums with various guest musicians and completed several tours through Canada, but also the USA, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

style

The group's lyrics are often humorous and include exploration of Canadian patriotism and local color (in pieces such as Rocks and Trees , The Mountie Song or We Are the Beaver ), contemporary cultural clichés and phenomena ( Let There Be Guns , The Coffee Song or Carrot Juice Is Murder ) as well as various other topics. Often the usual narrative styles of the texts are reversed. Stylistically primarily in the areas of pop and independent , the group parodies various musical genres in various pieces, such as country or Celtic folk music .
