The Capitols was an American rhythm and blues band.

Band history

The Capitols were founded in Detroit in 1962 , consisting of singer and drummer Sam George, guitarist Donald Norman Storball and keyboardist Richard Mitchell McDougall; originally called the trio The three Caps . In the spring of 1966 the trio was renamed The Capitols and in the same year they had a top ten hit with the song Cool Jerk . The group disbanded in 1969. Donald Norman Storball later served as a Detroit police officer, and on March 17, 1982, Sam George was stabbed to death in a domestic dispute.
